What happened to American Idol?

Is it just me, or is this the worst Top 24 ever for American Idol? The past two nights have not produced anything I would have expected in the way of 'wow' moments. And what happened to Ellen? She used to be funny, now she's just saying things like, "well, I don't know much about music, but it sounded good to me." Thanks for those piercing insights, E.
