Our songs focus on the Jewish tradition of "Tikkun Olam", which translates to 'repairing the world'. In a SoulAviv show you'll hear traditional spirituals, Hebrew prayers, original songs, old favorites, and even a little Bob Marley. But it's all music that speaks to Tikkun Olam, and it's music that makes people clap their hands, stomp their feet, and lift their voices to sing along. It's Jewish Soul Gospel!
Liat Wasserman - Vocals
The grandaughter of a rabbi on one side and a cantor on the other, Liat, our Israeli-born soprano has music in her genes -- literally...she studied voice at Eastman School of Music in New York, and spent much of her free time, before kids, singing in a jazz-pop a'capella group. Since moving to Santa Barbara from the Big Apple with her husband five years ago, Liat's been keeping busy raising her two young daughters.
Jamie Green - Vocals and percussion
Jamie, a recent transplant to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles, is an award-winning singer-songwriter, a Stanford grad, and the Santa Barbara director of Hip Hop Kidz, an after-school dance program. She is currently finishing up her third solo album, to be released by the end of the year.
Roxanne Morganstern - Vocals
A native Northern Californian and UCSB graduate, Roxanne has recently returned to Santa Barbara after almost 16 years in Los Angeles. Her musical roots are based in classical, jazz, R&B, and Gospel, and she has toured all over North America as the lead vocalist for a popular underground electronica act. She is honored and thrilled to be the newest member of SoulAviv.
Rob Raede - Vocals and guitar
After 20+ years in the wilderness of Wall Street, Rob went back to his first love--music. He is an accomplished guitarist, singer, and songwriter, and his songs have appeared in motion pictures, and been featured on local TV and radio. He has toured Europe, performed at major festivals, and is generally having the time of his life.
